Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith

4.0

I must confess that as much as I wanted to like Tantalize, I really, really did not. So my hopes for Eternal (even though it doesn't really deal much with the first book) were low. So low that I had to renew the book from the library again and only guilt about potentially keeping it from someone who wanted it more than I did prompted me to read it.

I could kick myself now, because the book is an incredibly quick read in the best sort of way. By the end, I was more than a little sniffly and I truly did not expect to me. At the start, I'm more a Miranda fan than I am a Zachary fan (at least he acknowledges the creepy aspect of his watching over 'his girl') but when Miranda is turned, so is my allegiance. Part of the story is obvious (what Zachary's mission really is) but the end still manages to retain a few twists, and for that I'm grateful.
