This book was JUST SO GOOD!

One of the complaints I had for the first book was that the character wasn’t strong enough(her characterisation not fighting skills) but this book makes sure I don’t have the same complaint. I still think that the princes weren’t sinister enough and apart from those two demons no one else seems to be sinister. I don’t expect them to do bad things to Emilia but in general other than people having sex nothing else happens. There’s a brief mention about a news/gossip sheet where stuff is reported and I wish that was explored more. Everything was happening too fast to the character so much that it didn’t make sense for it to. I would’ve loved to see more side characters explored as well as the the world itself because there was obviously underlying politics going on but Emilia just dismisses it so we don’t have an opportunity to see that.

All that being said, I think Maniscalco came very far with her writing and seems to be improving with every new book. I will continue with this series and will look forward to reading anything else she comes out with.
