This story started strong and help good suspense. I loved the premise of a journalist and serial killer. There’s a lot to question, such as how can this end or how relations can arise in this situation. I liked the first half. The characters were intriguing and the plot kept me on my toes. It fell off for me about 60% in. The characters just became infuriating and instead of scenarios being elaborate, they just became convenient for the plot. The FMC is a serial killers wet dream because of how she would be to lure in. Possible slight spoiler ahead. How she was able to forgive that he was a cold hearted killer who tortured and assaulted innocent women, yet she drew the line at a lie by omission just absolutely was the final nail in the coffin for me. The ending  just didn’t do it for me. Plot twists were either able to be seen from a mile away or were just confusing and let downs. I feel like the author wrote the MMC pretty well and took the time to fully flush out his past and how it formed him into who he is. I really struggled with the FMC and her overall arc. It just didn’t fully make sense to me how her past made her react how she did to the MMC and made her desensitized to his wrongdoings. As a victim herself, it’s confusing as to why she would be so forgiving to an abuser. I honestly could spiral more about plot holes and frustrations with this story, especially the ending and how convenient everything worked out. I’m an avid dark romance reader and this is the first book I was rooting for the cops to catch the main characters…

Also fair warning because I was taken by surprise, there’s graphic animal abxsè and kxllìng in ch 5.
