This book was…powerful. It’s been a while since a ya fantasy has pulled me in like this one did, with its rich world and characters that felt like my best friends and worst enemies. At points, the plot was a little convenient and random, but that was easy to overlook when considering how the Ngan’s need to tell this story shone through the pages. All in all it was a stunning book and I would recommend it to all.
Graphic: War, Grief, and Death
Moderate: Rape and Sexual assault
