Outmatched by Kristen Callihan, Samantha Young

4.0

Outmatched was a fun, low-angst romance. Callihan and Young’s writing blended well as they gave us a fake relationship filled with contentious banter between two well-meaning characters. And though it was slower in producing the magnetic chemistry—the kind to really draw me in—it was still an enjoyable read.

Both Parker and Rhys felt fully developed and their arcs defined from the beginning, and I loved that though they had a rough beginning with one another, that tension bled into emotions that each author could really pull from. Their dynamic—the nerd and the fighter—felt fun and served its purpose in telling a good love story of opposites colliding with unexpected results. I hope that these two come together to tell another story as they complemented each other well.
