Hoofin' It, by R.J. Blain

This one was unexpected. It's the 2nd book in the series, but has nothing to do with the 1st book ... other than it's in the same world.

Shane is trying to figure out the rest of his life, after loosing an eye while in the line of duty. He's a witness to a falling body on a car in NY... that has a duct-taped Alpaca in the back, which he takes custody of when the cops tell him they'll probably "put it down".

Nothing follows pattern from this point forward. In true madcap fashion like the 1st book had, Shane's life is going to be turned upside-down and spun like a top. Corrupt cops, a human-trafficking ring, a 3rd level of Chicago that brings it's own surprises ... this was a wild ride.

Super fun book.
