I love Sherry Thomas' characters, as well as the usual avenues we get taken down in her stories, but this one was quite a let down. This is like a historical bully romance combined with an amnesia plotline that comes out of nowhere. While both of these plot events are interesting, neither are handled or resolved in a way that resembles sense. Hasting's childish treatment of Helena and the way he deeply hurt her when they were teenagers is chalked up to a badly expressed adoration, and her memories are returned to her randomly without really any preamble. The entire story feels like a rough outline instead of a final draft.
