Ship of Shadows by Tee Harlowe

I loved the movie "Hook," but I'm usually not one for Peter Pan stories. Well... consider me a convert! The book's dedication pulled me in and the story held me Hook, line, and sinker.
This book beautifully meshes a few fairytale stories, and her series will continue to do so (though books can be read as standalones). I'm now invested in the whole thing!
I loved the writing and storytelling. It's one you can immerse yourself in, both mentally and emotionally.
The snark is STRONG in this one, and I'm all over it! Plus drama, tension, spice, and laugh-out-loud humor. Driscoll is the comic relief friend we all need in life, and I'm still cackling from when he said "just wanted to see what the fuss is about."
Not surprisingly as a marine biologist, I loved the setting and descriptions of life at sea, and was excited that much of it felt legit. Sometimes I read books with a maritime setting and it's like the author has never even seen a boat. But this book took me right out to see with it.
If you have the slightest interest in fairytale retellings, Captain Hook, or pirates, get this book!
Thank you to the author for a free ARC of this book; I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
