Real Life by Brandon Taylor

4.0

I’ve enjoyed noting how divisive this book is. Readers I admire and trust either love it or don’t finish it. I am very much in the love it category. I found so many things about it unexpected. How Taylor writes about nematodes and tennis, how he scratches at trauma, makes uncomfortable and insightful revelations about race and class, and questions academia. It’s a completely new take on the campus novel. And if your central question is what even is real life then I am your reader!
