Rest and Be Thankful by Emma Glass

This book is a perfect read for those who want a true and honest insight into what working within  the NHS and care sector feels like in the UK.

Although the poetic language and narrative style is quite polarising amongst other reviews, I think it added to the feverish surrealism that comes when you work night shifts & unsociable hours in a clinical setting.

It highlights the true emotional and physical toll of caring for others has on your mind, body and psyche.

There is no room for you in care and there’s the endless requirement to give and give.

But what happens when there is nothing left to give? What happens when you’re so used to being the exact thing other people need you to be that you lose yourself and your own identity in the process?
