Sonnets from the Portuguese by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

4.0

Beautiful. I didn't do justice to this book and flew through it in the time it takes to get through one of those mini Choceur chocolate bars from Aldi ("rich dark", if you wanted to know). Nevertheless, the beauty and passion in these heartfelt sonnets was conveyed.

I always wondered why they were called "From the Portuguese"--in order to protect her privacy, the author called these deeply personal love notes by another language, to suggest they were mere translations. Ah!
