Playing Hard to Get by Monica Murphy

“I’m falling for her. Probably have already fallen, if I’m being real with myself. And while that is scary and wild and I’m nervous about it, being with Joanna also feels so damn right. There’s nobody else for me.
She’s it.”

This book and I had a rough start... it was very much your cliché popular guy x nerdy girl with major "not like the other girls" vibe which annoyed me a bit, and I wasn't a huge fan of the MMC either, not that he was an asshole or anything but I just.. didn't feel him I guess. But the more I read, the more I started enjoying it. I wouldn't say it's a fav in any way but it wasn't a complete loss of time either.

That being said, the hints to the next book, however intriguing they might've been and however much I love the brother's best friend trope, have me a bit weary. The way the MMC reacts to his best friend merely TALKING to his sister has me apprehensive, not to mention how he basically tries to control his sister's life and calls it being overprotective, which honestly seems a bit hypocritical to me considering he used to sleep left and right with girls before finding the FMC, yet he doesn't trust his best friend to even exchange words with his sister (ergo one of the reasons I didn't like him all that much).. so I'm kinda on the fence about the next book, because it does sound like the kind of best friend's brother where the brother is an asshole who tries to dictate his grown sister's love life... which is SO not my cup of tea.. so yeah.

HOWEVER, Natalie's book? Now that one I'm looking forward to.. whenever it releases.
