Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro
2.0
There was no wow factor in this story and at no point did it elicit any feelings from me. I’m not sure if it’s due to translation or just how it was all written from the AI perspective which sometimes seemed sketchy.
The words would say she’s sad but I just didn’t feel it enough through the writing.
I do find the author being clever with only mentioning things here and there to encourage you to read in, but in the end there was no climactic moment for me.
I didn’t feel like I got to know any of the characters properly, not even Klara… because Klara didn’t even seem to have had a personality per se.
I just feel like this whole story was an easy to read non-event.
