The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

5.0

More like 4.5.

It takes a graveyard to raise a child. Following the murder of a toddler's family the inhabitants of the local graveyard take it upon themselves to shield him from further harm and raise him.

It was so fun and bittersweet and adventurous and imaginative and beautifully fantastical. With ghosts and ghouls, sleers a werewolf and vampire and I can't forget, a secret ancient society, of course. The graveyard raises Bod, short for Nobody Owens and it's a fun ride. So many amazing ghostly characters. A macabre fairytale of childhood into adulthood. I cried at the end, a beautiful bittersweet ending.

How did it take me so long to find Neil Gaiman? Can't wait for my next Gaiman read!
