Hannah Bellinger has formed an unlikely friendship with Fox Thornton—but when she comes to stay with him while her production company films in Westport, the friendship might be about to blossom into something more…despite their own best efforts.
I *adored* IT HAPPENED ONE SUMMER, and this one was an absolutely worthy successor. I really loved the friends-to-lovers dynamic of Hannah and Fox, and appreciated the way their romance unfolded. In particular, I loved this take on the “player” trope and the subtle exploration of toxic masculinity, which wasn’t an angle I’ve seen before!
I did have a few issues with pacing and this was a MUCH slower burn than I’m used to from TB (which is not necessarily a bad thing, just a noteworthy one). But all in all I had SO much fun with this, and with the duology as a whole!
CW: Mentions of infidelity (not between the MCs) and sexism
Moderate: Infidelity and Sexism
