The Grammar of Rock: Art and Artlessness in 20th Century Pop Lyrics by Robert Crumb, Alexander Theroux
Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
This guy is so self righteous about grammar, he’d probably accuse Stunk and White of war crimes.
I was hoping for a book that engaged with the clever and infinitely fascinating ways popular music reshapes words to get new meaning out of language. Instead I got a school marm who claims to have an encyclopedic knowledge of pop songs. Gimme a break.
