The Trouble with Whiskey by Melissa Foster

5.0

At one point, Billie Mancini, Eddie Baker, and Devlin “Dare” Whiskey were the best of friends. Known as the Daredevils, the three of them were unstoppable - until Eddie dies in a stunt gone wrong, and their world crashes down around them. The two remaining Daredevils are both broken, and each handles their pain differently. Dare throws himself into even more death defying stunts, while Billie caves in on herself, cutting anything adventurous out of her life - including Dare. However, Dare never gives up on Billie, biding his time until she lets him back into her life - and her heart.

Oh, wow. This book was one big emotional rollercoaster, and if you read it, you’re definitely going to need tissues! I loved everything about this book, from the town itself to the side characters to Billie and Dare’s beautifully complex relationship. I also loved how interconnected everything is! Be warned, the raw pain in this book will break you. Yes, there’s funny moments, and Billie and Dare’s banter is hilarious and to die for, but this book will definitely hit you straight in the feels. Billie and Dare’s story is completely and utterly epic, and I am 100% here for it.

Billie. She’s amazing for many reasons, but in my opinion, one of the best things about her is her strength. Billie is so freaking strong, stronger than I think even she knows at times. Billie always stands there with a snarky comeback and her head held high, even if on the inside she feels like she’s breaking. I also admire her quick wit and how deeply she cares for others. Dare. Oh my gosh, this man. Dare might seem like a crazy, biker player who’s obsessed with stunts, but there’s so much more to him than that. His devotion to Billie and to his family is something to envy, and he does so much good as a therapist at Redemption Ranch. Yes, he likes to live on the edge, but it’s not his only personality trait. I think Dare is kind and loving, patient and steadfast. I really enjoyed his and Billie’s love story. If you haven’t read this… what are you waiting for?
