Lover Arisen by J.R. Ward
5.0
Balthazar, the Bastards thief, met Erika, a homicide detective, when Balthazar was trying to track down the Book of Spells that a collector had. That was in another book. He scrubbed her memory. But he hasn't forgotten her. And she is intrigued with a video of him. Long, long, long story short, they meet, nearly die, and fall in love. Devina, who possessed Balthazar, is involved. It's your typical JR Ward love story. Good, but not great.
Devina is looking for her one true love and he is, in her words, "Holy…fu@k." I won't spoil who he is here.
There's a crucial story of Nate and Rahvyn.
But the real star of the book, as far as I'm concerned, is Lassiter. He's the reason I gave the book 5*s. There's so much depth to him, so much heartbreak, so much sacrifice. I can't wait for his book.
