One Heart at a Time by Delilah .

2.0

I loved Delilah’s show growing up. It gave me so much comfort. I used to listen to her show every night I worked - flipping burgers in a fast-food kitchen. It made the job bearable and I have missed her show tremendously since leaving the US.

So it pains me to say, I did not love this book. It felt very mixed up. I thought it was going to be a memoir, but it felt like I was attending a sermon with every listen. It wasn’t that she shared her beliefs and her faith; I just didn’t like the preachiness feel, parts of it felt very judgmental. So quite often, I felt worse after listening rather than inspired.

The stories she told about her life were interesting, and she is clearly a great person who has done amazing things. I think the book would have been better had she let the stories speak for themselves.

Thankfully the book was included in my audible membership. I probably wouldn’t read another one of her books, but I would still listen to her show.
