Giving this a 3 for two reasons: half of it is simply a repeat of “A Touch of Ruin” but from Hades POV (making it repetitive as it didn’t really add anything we didn’t already know/suspect) and two—the other half is a totally new plot not even hinted at in “A Touch of Ruin.”
This might have been okay if the main area of growth needed for both Jades and Persephone was not communication. Both of these book are about the turmoil miscommunication brings to their relationship, and yet at no point does Hades ever tell Persephone about Hera. Not to mention, it adds a whole new level to the war we see begin at the end of “Touch of Ruin,” which until we read this book we think is a war Demeter is instigating.
Overall, the only reasons I’d recommend this one is if you want more spice and if you’re planning to continue the HadesxPersephone saga, since you do learn things about the complex connecting plot that you didn’t in “A Touch of Ruin.”
