Are Prisons Obsolete? by Angela Y. Davis

challenging informative inspiring reflective tense slow-paced

4.0

I can’t say I enjoyed this one because it was honestly a fucking pain in the ass to read— incredibly academic and sadly not super accessible— but it was also fantastically informative and well thought out, and I’m really glad i stuck with it despite how difficult it was. I learned so much about prison & police abolition and was awed by the amount of knowledge davis had on the topic— clearly researching harder than I ever could! Would definitely recommend it if you’re interested in the topic and can handle a dense, difficult book, but there are also lots of other options out there for a gateway into the topic!
