Short and spicy! This was overall very entertaining and funny with laugh out loud moments, but I think some parts dragged for me and I ended up wanting it to be overwith as I neared the end.

Bree is an omega journalist who's tired of how boring her little town Holden is. So when she gets the chance to talk to the doctor related to the big scandal of Elmwood (the Alpha inmate from the previous book who allegedly kidnapped Ellie) to figure out what really happened, she jumps on the opportunity. The town is shaken after the events of Alpha Inmate with an eerie feeling all around. Bree by chance meets a mysterious stranger Cole while exploring the shutdown prison. The Alpha isn't easy to shake off, insisting they're mates. But they've got bigger problems...such as more dead bodies popping up around town and it isn't the escaped Alpha inmate.

The first half of the book was great. I was sucked in and I really loved Cole's deranged and delusional vibes. He was definitely an obsessed Alpha and the things he said outwardly and internally cracked me up. Bree has her insecurities and didn't want him close despite him making it very clear he wants her. All of her.

At some point though for such a short book, Bree's insecurities got old. Realistically, yea insecurities don't just *poof* go away, but this is a short omegaverse book so I expected things to move along faster. Cole was going above and beyond and unhinged to prove it to her that they belong. Bree didn't have to accept, but it certainly got annoying with how easy she was like "oh no he doesn't like me does he?" blah.

Of course, the inner alpha/omega things got me cackling. Some of the lines were a little cheesy in the good way.
"Alpha cares for us!"
And the spice of course was great. Classic knotting, fisting, Alpha (instead of daddy) kink.

Another note, I do wonder if Cole counts as a serial killer? He just sounds more like a vigilante killer to me, though he is very deranged and doesn't feel remorse at all (except when it comes to his omega mate of course).
