The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter

4.0

I did make a vow in bookish anger that I would no longer read another Karin Slaughter novel following the constant regurgitation of storylines, largely because of Lena. I gave 'The Kept Woman' a shot because I am a sucker for pain. Yet, I was very pleasantly surprised.

The plot blended old characters with new and thrilling plots and the pacing was really good. The whole time I felt that the characters and plot were developing and at no point did I get the burning anger that I did when reading about Lena.

Thank the book Lord that Lena appears to be at rest.
SpoilerThough, I am now hoping that Angie doesn't become the new Lena whereby she turns up in every novel just being a crazy person and never develops.

I love Wilbur though! I just want to tuck him up in bed and mother him and pinch his cheeks and stroke his abs....

Ahem! Yes, would definitely recommend to fans of Slaughter and to Crime Thriller fans in general.
