State of the Union by Brad Thor

4.0

This book took me a while to read, mostly because of work craziness and not because of level of challenge, but what I appreciate about Brad Thor's books is that they aren't very difficult to put down and pick up later. Part of what I'm enjoying about reading these thrillers is that they aren't like Dickens, meaning they aren't written in such a way that every word is important and, therefore, stopping the reading process is also stopping the flow of understanding.

I really like that all of these books are connected. The continuity of the story lines makes it so that it's also easy to pick up what's happening from book to book. I can see that after a while, these Scot Harvath stories might also blend a little bit and each book could become a templated sort of novel, but we'll see. I'm still enjoying the characters and world that Thor has created.
