Court of Blood and Bindings by Lisette Marshall

5.0

Five stars and in my favorite list of books!
Books have the ability to transport the reader into a magical world. But not all writers can truly create an immersive piece that balances the reader's ability to suspend disbelief with the story's worldbuilding and character development.
But in this series, Lisette has exceeded in this area. This is a book that I can read effortlessly without having to force myself to relate to the characters, or try to understand their thought process and motivations. This is a story that I feel like I am having the same thoughts as the character as the story plays out, and their choices very much mirror what I would do in the same situation. This makes the characters resonate so much deeper for me. In addition, this book does an amazing job of building the world and backstory in a way that also pushes the plot forward, doesn't feel forced, and is 'shown' in the experience rather than 'told.

So obviously I adore the main characters. I love the banter and development of relationships through the course of the book. I love how naturally the communication between the main characters progresses and evolves not just in this book, but throughout the series. And the spice is *chefs kiss* perfect.

I would highly recommend this to any readers who love a solid fae enemies-to-lovers series with an engaging plot that keeps you reading through the night.
