The Lost Track of Time by Paige Britt

3.0

This book is SO MUCH like "The Phantom Tollbooth." I think it's probably better developed though. It's got the clever wordplay, fantastical creatures, quest to save an alternate world, etc. But it is longer and more in-depth. The author pretty much acknowledges in the end credits that she was highly inspired by the older novel.

My 10-year-old enjoyed this and read it pretty quickly. She didn't rhapsodize about it or anything, but she liked it. I thought it rather plodding, but then I had only recently read "The Phantom Tollbooth," so it was just too much of the same too soon. It just didn't grab adult me, although I probably would have highly enjoyed it as a child.
