Double the Danger and Zero Zucchini by Betsy Uhrig
4.0
When Alex's aunt offers him $10 to read and critique the children's book she's been writing, he has a Problem. The book is BORING! Sure, his aunt chose him because of his reputation as a reluctant reader, but can he really tell her that her book is boring from start to finish?
Instead of admitting defeat, Alex recruites his friends to help him roleplay possible exciting scenes for the story, gets plot ideas from some unlikely sources, and learns that sometimes even reluctant readers can still enjoy a good story.

Air is an an excellent story about standing up against ableism, working through grief, and just navigating the challenges of being a kid.

Yet another wonderful book by Heather Fawcett! As with her previous middle grade books, The School Between Wintet and Fairyland brings us a new world with lovable characters and magic filled adventures. This book was an auto-buy for me after loving Ember and the Ice Dragons and The Language of Ghosts!

I loved this! I was so excited to learn who Milo's comfort characters were, as their book was definitely a childhood favorite of mine. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series; it'll definitely be an automatic buy for me!

Wow. This book is phenomenal. Just wow. I think everyone should read this— especially those who've struggled with feeling different— but really everyone. I rarely read contemporary, but this book just felt important, so I finally got around to reading it and I'm so so glad I did.

What kid could resist a book about competitive slime selling between two slime-making kid entrepreneurs?
This book is not only as fun as it sounds, it's also a very relatable story about learning to speak up for yourself even when doing so is difficult.
I definitely plan on recommending this book to others, and I can see it appealing even to more reluctant readers!
