It starts off with skin and then goes beyond that which I didn’t expect personally. Overall good read.

I enjoyed it thoroughly. This book gave me that ‘I understand why fiction is important’ moment. Since I’m in her head, I understand her but I also understand the society around her even though I’m angry at them for not leaving her alone. I would not have understood her point of view without reading about it. The conversations about our role in society, our identity and what is normal and abnormal were so interesting. The main character is not a burden on anyone. She’s very good at taking care of herself yet the society sees her as abnormal and needing help. Such a good story in such short pages. And it’s a happy ending. I loved it.

I think I’m not emotional or romantic enough to enjoy her thoughts.

Objectively I think it’s good. Personally a lot of it went over my head. I don’t understand structures and forms of poetry so I could not understand his critiques. I did take away something from the book and it’s given me a new perspective on poetry. Would not recommend without basic knowledge of poetry structures and forms.

I was not understanding anything. No point continuing if you can’t get anything out of the book.

This is my first time reading a modern mystery. I mostly go for Christie and Poe when I want a murder mystery. I liked the main character having a personal stake in the mystery. A lot of the tension comes from the character relationships than the actual murder. It’s funny and self aware. I loved that the characters are not shallow. Even if you want to hate them or make fun of them, the author doesn’t let you. He treats his characters with sensitivity. I’ll be honest I lost the plot at some places. But by the end everything was very clear. A satisfying end.

The book was quite repetitive at the beginning. Personally I did not like the structure and pacing of the book. By the end I was skimming as I had lost interest. It is very informative about the VIP culture. This was my first time learning about it and the book is good at explaining the relationships and dynamics. I also liked the fact that the author is objective when needed but never judgemental of the subjects of her study. Do give it a try if you’re interested in the dynamics of power in the VIP night life culture.

I’ve lost interest. I think I wasn’t very interested since beginning. I’m not into the “girl obsessed with an animal/beast and taming it is her life goal” trope.
