** spoiler alert ** Okay so just finished the book. For me it's a 3 star. I liked the atmosphere, and the way Ava writes is beautiful, but I didn't connect with any of the characters and everything felt so predictable. From chapter 4/5 you already know that the book is written by the widow (but apparently effy and preston cant connect two and two together??) it seems like it's a true story (the whole no mirrors on the house and everything), the rest is just filling the blanks. The romance was meh, she went from hating him to having sex in like 2 weeks?
The end felt rushed to me, I wished it was a little bit longer just so that everything could be explained with the right pace
