Overall I liked the writing and the characters and the premise. I thought the ending was pretty decent too at the very least it was satisfying enough. I think some of the more sinister feelings/thoughts could have been more amped up especially when it was talking negatively about the rich and the mystery of Jonathan's illness. I think the realization of what his illness was was a bit rushed feeling. I wish there was more focus also on Lena's knowledge/execution of plant knowledge.
I would be willing to check out more from this author in the future even though I didn't love this.

Liked this for a variety of reasons but didn't love it. Really liked the messed up Breakfast Club-esque cast of characters (Coop is my fave and I kept going, in my best Squidward voice, oh God he's hot 😂). Each character was annoying or terrible but like in a good way? Or at least in a way that it was entertaining and kept you invested. Really enjoyed the setting as well and the mystery of who did it.
Overall was okay with the ending. Wrapped nicely enough for me where it didn't feel like it left me hanging.
Def check trigger/content warnings.

Loved these spins on classic european fairytales. Would love this to be done to other cultures' tales as well. I enjoyed most of them but there were definitely some better than others.

Very cute and quick! Always wanted to be a pastry chef or baker so I always love graphic novels centered around culinary pursuits!

There were a lot of things I liked but a lot of things I didn't(or just maybe didn't understand?).
I really enjoyed the premise and setting (even though it is a very real setting with everything going on with climate change and how the global south is being the most affected/hurt thanks to the actions of the global north). I also loved the sisters and their dynamic. I loved the time spent with Cee on the island and Kasey searching for her sister. I generally liked how this was written.
I didn't like the super open ending or how rushed the ending seemed. The majority of this was pretty slow, really building the mystery of where Cecelia went, and then the ending was super fast and ambiguous and unfulfilling for me.
Would be open to reading more from this author but maybe not right away

A pretty typical YA. Main characters were a little annoying not gonna lie. Cute premise though. Unsure if I'd read more from the author.

Super good especially for anyone who wants to be a more inclusive/intersectional feminist. My only criticism is there was very little acknowledgement of how white feminism affects Asians, it was heavily mentioned how it affects black, indigenous, and latina women (rightly so) but Asian women was widely forgotten in this discussion. One part could be the lack of information/stats on it and what stats/info IS available is heavily biased/racialized to show how Asians aren't affected (which isn't true. East Asians are the least affected particularly Japanese and Korean but all other Asians, especially brown Asians and non christian Asians have similar stats to black and other brown women). I know it isn't the author's place/duty to do all that when her main concern is black women like herself though. The author does a great job explaining and detailing how white feminism/feminists hurt pocs intentionally and unintentionally and how community care and action (providing programs and resources) needs to be a bigger part in feminism instead of just talk.

I wasn't entirely sure what this was about when I first picked up it but ended up really loving it. If you're looking for a traditional horror about vampires, this isn't it. This is more a story on how power and infatuation can affect people and how that can be abused on a backdrop of vampirism. Super good and would've been a 5 star if we didn't get the last bit of pov from Alexi. I don't think his pov was necessary. Or if his had to be included, I wouldve liked to also see Magdalena's then as well.
READ TRIGGER/CONTENT WARNINGS. the author does provide them in the beginning before her book actually starts but I would def recommend checking them out even before that.

I love retellings and this has potential but overall a miss for me. I liked the aspect of humanizing Asterion(minotaur) but could've done without the negative/slutshaming/sexist descriptions of the women (even if that is aligned with the original myths). The word choice for the women gave me major ick and brought this down for me.
