This is an excellent book that I think every white person should read. 

I believe that I'm self-aware; I'm an intersectional feminist, but there is always room for improvement to be a better ally to BIPOC. I thought about posting some powerful quotes from this book, but based on what I knew before reading this, and an idea that was reinforced with this book, when it comes to racism and systems of oppression, white people should not be leading the conversation, we need to be listening, we need to truly listen to understand how we can be better allies for people of color. So, I'd highly recommend reading this and really diving in deep. It will be uncomfortable, there's no prize at the end, no cookie, it's just the right thing to do.

Alright, to be completely transparent, the only reasons I picked up this book was it was the first book I saw on KU; I forgot my Kindle today, and I hate starting a book on my Kindle and then opening it on the Kindle app and seeing those little dots at the bottom of the progress bar. (I've searched the internet and could not find a way to clear them/get rid of them) or vice versa. 

Anyway, I didn't enjoy the last book I read from this author but though maybe I would try another, this one could be better. For me... it wasn't. This didn't interest me. I  don't like this author's writing style, and it's totally okay if you do. No judgement at all, reading is extremely subjective. 

From now on, I know that I won't need to pick up any more books from her.

I still love the series, but this book, the plot was kinda all over the place. It felt like we were seeing puzzle pieces being put together haphazardly, like, you know they're in the right spot, but it doesn't look or feel right. 

I've seen a few other people in their reviews say it might have helped re-reading the prior books before reading this one, and I would agree. It has been a long time since I've read the first one. 

The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures by Aaron Mahnke

It’s very similar to his podcast, so some parts feel a bit repetitive if you listen to the Lore Podcast. I still found this enjoyable, I like the way he tells a story and provides good background information and context.
