I really enjoyed this. I feel like the ending tied together enough plot points for me to be satisfied, but left enough open for me to want to read the next book!

oh my god finally! i finally finished it!
firstly, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the book, i don’t read much non fiction so i found this very difficult but i knew it would be worth it so i kept going!
i really love everything natalie haynes has written so i think i only have divine … something. i can’t remember the title but i know i only have the most recent publication left!
i personally feel that non fiction is where this author really shines, as pandoras jar was just magnificent but this was much more of a essay-style book.

this was a very easy read - hence why i read it so quickly.
I enjoyed this because the plot didn’t feel jagged and the pacing was even throughout. The characters were good. I enjoyed the Darkling and Alina and Mal.
Often in books like this, main female characters feel a lot like “woe is me “, but Alina didn’t feel like this – well at least not very much. Which is better than a lot of other books so well done.

Okay so, i really loved the world building and had no confusion over who was who and what was what - so that was successful.
The plot was good, most twists made sense and the main plot twist near the end was hinted at when the first character death occurred in the book, at their funeral. (this is no spoilers, it’s literally said in the blurb). There were a few time when i said ‘what?’ out loud but that was probably because i finished this book at 4am.
the book ended following a reality that i was expecting, but not in the way i expected so i am delightfully surprised. i will put the next book on my tbr and get it later this year!

Loved the storyline and the creativity! Also adore how the chapters had titles (not enough books do that these days!)
