Really good, lots of action and very interesting story. I think I may have been a little bored at the beginning and furious about the house, but by the end I was fully on board. Interested in book 3!!

Interesting concept and has some great ideas. I like gore in my post apocalyptic adventure stories and thought it only added to the main concept.
I did lose a little interest as it turns out something else I got obsessed with also had a human science element, but still keen to listen to the other books (I got the whole trilogy in the audible deal)

I don’t know how to feel about this book, but that’s mainly because I’ve forgotten what happened in this book vs the one before.
It feels very slow, written as a screenplay for a TV show from the 2010s - so much happened and yet nothing really?
It has interesting characters and ideas, but something fundamental is missing. Curious to read what others think.
I will still read book 3 (if/when it comes out, but I kind of hope it’s the last one).

- agreed that author’s writing has clearly improved a lot since the last book
- I didn’t like marcella, unlike others
- Didn’t love the back and forth again, SPOILER and I’m especially confused why so much time was spent on it when Marcella didn’t ultimately matter that much and she was killed anyway?
- Eli’s backstory is so tragic, and the parallels were tough to read (in a good-writing way)
- Sydney’s story didn’t go anywhere really, which was annoying
- I wish this had been shorter and/or the end of the series
- SPOILER I was worried nothing was really going to happen after the marble broke, but then so much did in quick succession? It was a little jarring
- Someone said the author doesn’t know if she’s going to write a third book? That’s so confusing as this was not a satisfying end at all.
- Did we ever get an explanation of why June cared so much about Sydney?

- started boring and slow (but might have just been because I was listening in 30 min bursts)
- Got interesting as we got into the concept of Eli killing EOs
- Got boring again towards the end re the final meet up. Felt a little like a pacing problem
- It feels like it was written as of explaining a film that’s being watched - the translation causing a pacing problem
- I’ve loved (and felt okay) about other books by this author, but this is my least fav. Still interested enough / hopefully enough to try book 2

The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu

It’s an interesting premise and written well, but it’s just too high scifi for me and I’m bored and confused. I did read a detailed summary and thought it was an incredibly interesting and creative story and listened to another hour but it’s just not for me right now. It would be perfect for people who like this type of scifi and deserves all the hype.

Wow, the beginning on the ship was sooo boring. I almost gave up. Maybe it was so long because I was seeing family and having shorter listening times, but still.
Again, there were really interesting ideas but I think they went a little further this time (re cloning, nature vs nurture, etc)
I think the pacing choice didn’t work as well as hoped - it was just frustrating to hear the Mithinrood people assume that Koli was coming to do bad instead of just asking when we heard his point of view.
I was also so pissed when it felt like we just glossed over Koli dying, but I guess it made sense (though it would have been better to cut the narrative at his upload and the question of if it was done in time).
Thinking about the series as a whole, it felt like a decently unique and interesting story, that was just way too long, took some odd choices which didn’t pay off with the style (pacing, language, etc) which makes it feel like maybe it’s the author’s book (which it isn’t) or first try to make such a huge story (which it arguably is)
