I LOVE GAY PEOPLE!!! WLW FTW!!! anyways so cute, so quick! i love a fluffy read and this was the fluffiest of fluff. no actually stakes so i was speeding through it no stress. obviously not peak literature and did feel kinda clunky sometimes but a very pleasant read. descriptions of poc were… odd but i’m glad authors are providing more representation outside of their own experiences. i kept getting reminded of i kissed shara wheeler but that could honestly just be bc they’re both wlw set in high school lol. none of the characters felt very grounded? idk jas’ friends weren’t really that impactful and lara’s friends were only really fleshed out at the end. but i get it as its more to do with lara’s introspection and self perceived reality. actually now that im thinking of it… lara’s kinda annoying asf but me too girl… me too

Did not finish book.
mcs character and motivations completely changed from the first book and was too jarring for me to consider it a well written continuation.

incredibly moving and poignant. my heart breaks for every melinda and teenage girl out there. growing up is so hard and the exploration of trauma, processing, and healing that melinda goes through fills me with such an intense feeling of melancholy, i was so insanely proud of her growth. most of this book was just me screaming at someone to pay attention and help her but you can only ever help yourself and learn to live with your own life. so extremely realistic even for today. great book.
