Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak

the pictures are cool, mixed with the progression of the story   Sucker for mixed media in novels. Lots of telling, not a lot of showing. Anton Chekhov has a famous quote: “Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.” Overall I enjoyed the story but there were a lot of things that pulled me out of it.

I don’t think AJ Finn is for me. I’ll leave it at that.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Emmett & Nova - anonymity… revenge plot, spiciest of the books- I can’t believe it’s over. While the content felt a little repetitive through the middle, I adored the way Devney wrapped this series up. The entire crew ends with their HEAs & the found family vibes are just immaculate. I think Riven Knight is still the favorite

It’s just as bad as daydream 😶‍🌫️
Midnight Is the Darkest Hour by Ashley Winstead

This was way overhyped 🫢 if chapters 3-6 were more towards the end of the book; there would have been more impact. I was bored by page 75 and questioning what’s the point? I already know what happens. While it’s beautifully written, I love Winsteads prose, but just felt pointless after a certain point.

-multiple timeline jumps to the past
-single POV
-murder… but not mystery

Leo deserved his happy ending 🥹 ugh I love this series so much, the found family amongst the Tin Kings is just something else. I don’t want to give anything away but the last 100 pages made the whole thing!!

bad boy turned daddy is my new favorite, *specific* trope🥵

Telling me the story instead of showing me, Cassidy also comes off as an entitled twat, “As I walk into the patient’s room, the doctor is already assessing my patient in the bed. I take a deep breath, barely glancing at him as I try to remain professional. Wheeling over the computer and opening the patient’s chart, I focus on my task at hand.” oh you mean the dr is doing HIS job, mind you she’s an RN… and she’s annoyed that he was a dick in the hallway when she *literally* stopped walking suddenly. I would have told you to watch where you were going as well… esp in Atlanta? It’s not giving enemies to lovers meet cute ….Bless your heart…. I just can’t. And the Covid blah blah rah rah rah. 🤮
