It was beautiful but my brain wasn't in the state to continue the story at the pace it was. Don't get me wrong my love for Iris and Roman was there but just for them nothing else. So, because of that I'd skim so much till I get to them in the same page talking and having the most epic love confessions. And then I'd do it again.

I might be sensing a reading slump coming soon so that might be what's wrong with me and not the book.

This needs to be a very detailed review. But first, what I look for in my romance books is very different from other geners. I care more about how the characters make me feel I.e. do they feel relatable, do I like them, is their relationship interesting for me, what are their struggles in life.
That matters more than the plot itself. Because to me they are the plot.

Now to this book. What I loved was the communicatio that happened, the leading couple actually had conversations to know each other and communicated how they were feeling. Also, no insta-love/lust ( I really hate when that happens). The book focused on building the relationship rather than being smut city. And finally Mina as a character had a whole metal spine throughout the book. Yes Tucker wasn't my favourite I actually was hoping that she ends up with his best friend. But I did admire his efforts. And finally, the angst in this was gut ranching I loved it because I was looking for something that made my heart ache.

Now to the things I wish were explored more. Mina's relationship with her parents. Having a little bit more presence of Tucker's mom at times she felt more like a ghost. Bit more of Mina's therapy would also be great for her character development.

I will definitely pick up another book by Christine michelle and pray that she keeps that level of slowburn and angst cause I live for that.

The sequel is phenomenal and might be even better than the first book. The slight Gothic vibes, the mystery, the brilliant details had me bewitched.

Every second had me gasping for air. I had the ya moment of (let out a breath she didn't know she was holding) kinda moments. Till the very end I was bamboozled, flabbergasted, and crying.

I'm running to the last book so happy I waited to the series was finished.

Still as funny and ridiculous as the first time I read it but sooo much better with the audio book. The insanity was intensified sooo much more.
