This is a book of poetry and poetic prose that explores issues of the USA today through the lenses of feminism, fairies, ancient stories, wizards, jaded radicalism, and a love of language above all else.
Interesting to dive into this magazine from 2009 with lots of respected authors whom I'd never read before. Carolyn Ives Gilman's Economancer was a fun twist on why the 2008 market collapsed. Mike O'Driscoll's The Spaceman will have me contemplating when imagination fades away for quite some time. Most of the other stories have really interesting ideas somewhat plagued by more plot than needed. And I'd really rather Gary Jennings' Sooner or Later or Never Never had not been found worthy of a reprint as recently as 2009. Oof, that has not aged well.
