I’m officially naming this Emily Henry’s summer. I think I liked this one more on the reread, but it’s not my favorite by her.

I just don’t think this one was for me. I didn’t like opal at all, I didn’t care about their romance, and the ending didn’t feel deserved. I don’t think they worked through conflict well and their personal growth just felt unnatural.

Absolutely amazing. Emily Henry does it again! The conflict in the third act broke my heart and healed it again.

Fantastic. Amazing. No notes.

(Actually one note is that I didn’t believe the main characters had any chemistry until about half way through when the author finally allowed Charlie to have a personality. But by the time that happened, I was already invested in Gretchen’s plot so it ended up being a pleasant surprise. Also things wrapped up a liiiittle too quick at the end.)

I hate to say this one really didn’t do it for me. I didn’t like or care that much about either of the leads. I also didn’t really believe the hating each other story line? The worst thing was that one of them would use the names of famous queer folks as exclamations like “lady fucking Gaga” or “Janelle fucking monae.” It grated on me every single time it happened, which was often.

Would have given it 4, but it fell apart a bit at the end. Another reviewer said “Deconstructing the concept of your dystopian thought experiment is really tricky!” which really sums the ending up nicely.

Loved the first 3/4ths of the book and the last bit fell off a bit. Wonderful banter and v good steamy sections

Didn’t love this one as much as I thought I would. The pacing was a little weird and something just felt a little flat.
