Really couldn't decide what to rate this book. I went in blind and expected something subversive and queer with the relationship between Kate and Maeve, and was treated instead to a strange pedestrian straight love story that ended very unsatisfyingly. But, on the other hand, this book made my stomach turn in a way that books rarely can these days, Maeve was a strikingly interesting character, the way the Sunset Strip was brought to life and the allusions made to other freaks of literature were all compelling and enjoyable. I think that puts this book at a four for me.
