I was really excited going into this book since I'd loved the kiss quotient (Micheal and Stella owned my heart) so much. But, the story lacked that sort of magic that the first book had. I sometimes found myself enjoying the little cameos of Quan, Micheal and Stella more than the actual romance. That's not to say Khai and Esme were bad characters- they weren't. But, these characters felt much more compelling when they separated during the third act. Overall it was good book and I'm excited to read Quan's story, I loved his character, and watch him get his happily ever after.
thank you suzanne collins for reviving my hunger games obsession. thirteen year old me would be distraught if she found out i thought young snow was hot (in tom blyth we trust) rip lucy gray she would have loved taylor swift <3
y'all this was so good !! i literally finished it in two sitting because ya girl was invested and could not put the book down. anyway let's talk about it first and foremost i have been team conrad since pretty much the beginning, that's not to say i don't love jeremiah because i do, but they did my man jeremiah so dirty. i know this is an unpopular opinion but he did not cheat on belly they were broken up, they said they were broken up, it was a very much mutual decision. it was still a shitty thing to do but he didn't cheat on belly. if anything belly being with jeremiah soley because she couldn't be with conrad was worst and while i was extremely happy her and conrad got married that shit was so soon after literally almost marrying his fucking brother. mini rant over but i'm happy the way it ended belly was always meant for conrad and i couldn't have asked for a better ending !! thank you jenny han for blessing us with this series (but also fuck you for making me cry those last couple chapters) will be rewatching show obsessively until season 2 comes out !!
personally i think this was a much better book than the first one with much stronger themes that hit a bit too close to home. this felt bigger than a love story/love triangle as we watched these characters struggle with the loss of a loved one. while there were times i wished some characters would have dealt with their emotions in better ways (cough belly telling conrod to go to hell/that she hates him at his mothers funeral) i think that's what made the grief more realistic. when someone goes through a loss like that it's messy and hard and i think jenny han perfectly portrayed those feelings. i enjoyed the inclusion of jeremiah's pov, hopefully we see conrads in the next book, it made me love him as a character a lot more. (still team conrad tho) my heart broke everytime they mentioned susannah and laurel ugh my poor baby she just misses her best friend i can't even fathom the pain she must be in. all in all i enjoyed this very much and can't wait to read the final book to see how the story comes to a conclusion !!
this was such an easy fun read (especially after watching the show ugh so good y'all) i'm not gonna lie there were some cringe moments, it's a YA romance so it's to be expected, but i really enjoyed it overall. i don't think would have enjoyed it as much as did if i had not watched the show before reading it. we did not get into characters storylines or even have enough moments to truly pick a team. hopefully in the next books we have more romance because that was severely lacking throughout the book. like give me more conrad/belly scenes i loved them in the show. tatbilb will always be the superior jenny han series in my heart but this also had me giggling and kicking my feet <33 aNYWAY the vibes were great and cannot wait to read the next one !!
