This book was so good and I didn't want to get to the end and finish the experience of reading it for the first time. I don't buy physical books very often, so I started reading the digital version from the library, but I ordered the hardcover only a few chapters in because I just knew I wanted to have it around forever even after I returned the library copy. The writing was so beautiful and lush and not a single word felt like filler. The story flowed so well, particularly for one that has time jumps. Those can get confusing or be kind of annoying, but I thought they fit perfectly together and were absolutely necessary in this one. I liked A Darker Shade of Magic, but I LOVED this. I found the story so compelling and the characters felt like people that could really exist. There were times while reading that I set the book down for a few minutes so I could really bathe in the phrasing of a particularly great paragraph or reflect on some of the ideas. If you loved the Starless Sea like I did, I think you should give this one a try!
