if this book was only the plot it would’ve been so much better. alas, it’s 90% smut with a loose plot to string it all together

also she turns 18 the day they take her and they constantly refer to her as a little girl so keep that in mind

Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
*thank you netgalley and publisher for an arc*

dnf at 20%

i tried, i really did. i tried for a month. and only could do 20%. i tried to read in other lands by this same author and quit that book for the same reasons as this one.

the way this author writes is bizarre. she’ll go on side tangents that have nothing to do with the story or scene and feel like stream of consciousness but somehow with less cohesion.

the pacing of this book also was wack and made no sense. you never knew what was happening or where in the story you were. everyone being called by a trope name and saying it over and over was annoying. i get the character was in a fantasy book, but i read fantasy and none are written like that.

and lastly, it wasn’t funny. it was grating. everyone i knew that was reading early copies kept saying how hilarious this book was and the only thing i’m laughing about is how this book got published.

anyways, i think i’ve given up on this author. read at your own will.

it’s exactly what i expected it to be. which is to say it was fine.

complaints:
-wtf are these names. hyacinth? k
-title barely has anything to do with the book so why is it named with the bowl of mac and cheese format
-i listened to this on audio and the narrator for the fmc was irritating

hi hello i loved this:)

the way the characters discover their own identities and also learn to navigate heartbreak and break ups (both friend and romantic) is so raw and real. i felt seen in these pages.

i also cried so take that into account.
