Hungerstone by Kat Dunn
4.25
4.25 stars
Hungerstone was one of my most anticipated book releases for 2025 with it being a sapphic vampire book that is a retelling of Carmella and I wasn't disappointed. I was in a bit of a reading slump when I started reading Hungerstone and I couldn't put it down. From the first chapter I was hooked and you instantly felt the isolation Lenore had to cope with where everyone only showed one side of themselves to her and never fully accepted who she is. This led to her not being able to act on her own wants and desires, instead she had to support other peoples wants constantly.
At times the metaphor of hunger was unsettling but I think was necessary to fully convey how important it is for people to not be restricted in their life. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a sapphic vampire book.
Thank you to Bonnier books for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
