The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

I started reading this book for the book club at our library. I had never heard of it before and didn't know if I would like it or not, but once I started reading it, I was hooked. I didn't want to put it down until I was finished with it.

I was in awe of this book. King did an amazing job. As a mother of two babies under two, I was in my feelings so much in this book. At one point, I was crying so hard I could barely read the words on the page. But I couldn’t put the damn thing down. King left me with some unanswered questions though at the end. What happens to Ellie?? That’s the main thing I would like to know. That, and how does Rachel turn out?

Nicholas Sparks had me on an emotional roller coaster ride with this book. Vivian had me trying to decide if I wanted to strangle her, or pray for her, or a little bit of both. Russ was the perfect dad, even if he knew he didn't know exactly what to do, that's what made him so great. All he cared about was being the best husband and the best father he could be. Despite the way Vivian felt, he was a great husband, all in all. Marge had me in tears at the end of the book. This book had the perfect beginning and the perfect ending. I've never been so into a book like I was this one. Thank you, Nicholas Sparks, for another amazing read. Had me all in my feels during the whole book.

I wound up giving this book three stars because as much as I did wind up liking it, it took me quite a while to actually get into it. It started out pretty slow, and it wasn’t until around the middle of the book that I started to get into it.
