This is a reread, but my first experience with the audio (I read the ePub when the book first released), and it’s just so much fun

Feral and unpredictable, and yet… entirely un-thrilling. It was fine?

Spoiler How does she keep forgetting she’s pregnant? That feels like something you don’t forget imo… 🤷🏼‍♀️

The Obelisk Gate is another incredible, gorgeous masterpiece from NK Jemisin that has once again left me a babbling mess connecting red string on a cork board.

everyone told me that Obelisk Gate was better than Fifth Season, and I didn’t believe them, because how could you possibly improve on perfection? and yet, here I am, yelling at the sky, trying to process that ending and all of its implications and possible consequences.

As much as I want to immediately dive into Stone Sky and embrace what I’m sure will be an epic conclusion, I need to take the time and decompress from this brilliance. NK Jemisin has done it again, and I will forever recommend her books to anyone who will listen

at first, I thought maybe I’d watch True Blood. then I got halfway through the book & went… “no, think it’s best if I don’t”

the same goes with reading the rest of the series. think it’s best if I don’t.

Premise was solid enough, but it had far more potential as an adult novel. Publishing as YA limited how much Sutherland was able to explore her ideas, and as a result… it wasn’t very good.
