Burlesque River by Kitty Bardot

This book was a fun, fast paced, short read. I loved the burlesque atmosphere and it was the first story I’ve read of its kind including that aspect. I’m a lover of burlesque shows so I knew I had to read it.

The “found love” story was very sweet to me and I enjoyed it. But where the book lost me was the slight inclusion of BDSM. It felt… out of place and unnecessary? The romantic sex scenes were just enough to make sense in the story. The submissive addition just didn’t seem to fit with the two main characters and the story itself.

Overall, I did enjoy the author’s storytelling and writing style a LOT and it was a fun, easy read but I’m a bit thrown off with the overall plot.

This was an ARC sent to me for my honest review.

I am not typically a fan of historical books, but the plot sounded intriguing, so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I decided to try it out because I devoured this! I was hooked from the beginning. The writing and story were great, and I really fell in love with Talon and Lara's story. We also love a wolf being a main character.

This encouraged me to get out of two of my 'book habits':
1. Judging a book by its cover (I typically avoid books with real people on the cover)
2. Sticking with my preferred genres

I only wish there had been more about Lara's magic and her dreams, which is why I ultimately gave it 4 stars. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in reading a historical romance with slow burn, some spice, and VERY likable characters. Looking forward to reading more by Michele James!

This was one hell of a ride. Honestly, the book itself was a little slow for me. Very descriptive. I also struggle with “woe is me” main character perspectives.

I’m giving this book 3 stars because it’s been weeks and I STILL think about the ending. It’s wild. Overall, not a bad read for a thriller lover.

Couldn’t put this book down. Finished it in less than 72 hours. Keeps you second guessing. And just when you think you’ve figured it out... guess again.

I do appreciate a good twist in a book and this one delivers it early on. While the ending fell a little flat for me, I was still hooked and flew through this book.

Megan Goldin might be one of my favorite authors after this and The Night Swim. She builds such suspense that I simply cannot put the book down. This one kept me guessing until the very end. A one-of-a-kind plot. Would recommend to any suspense or thriller fans!
