Spoiler free review!
This book was a wonderful end to the Shepherd King duology. The story continues on right where the first book finishes, but this time we are getting a lot more chapters from other characters POV.
I was obsessed with the first book in this series, I loved the world and the magic system, so I was very excited going into this.
Overall, I would say I loved this book even more than the first. The character development throughout is amazing and I really really enjoyed the romance that was in this book. I loved that we got to see a lot more of Elm, Ione and the Nightmare. I especially enjoyed finding out about the Nightmares backstory and life.
I think the pace of this book was perfect, constantly going back and fourth between the different events that were all going on at the same time. At no point was I bored by any story line nor confused by what was going on. And finally, I was happy with the ending, but no spoilers here!
This duology was amazing and I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys dark, gothic fantasy.
