The topic of the book was very interesting and the story really cool but sometimes the book felt a little slow and I had to force myself to keep reading. The characters were quite interesting and each one so different from another one. The story has a lot of depth and a very feminist aspect of it.

The book is cute.
Annie is a shy girl who thinks she know what she wants but ends up realizing she wanted something else all along. But she‘s also sort of the typical nice girl from next door and her development was not surprising.
Will is the grumpy guy haunted by his childhood who doesn’t do relationships of course. It‘s also very much of a cliche.
But the book is still nice to read. It‘s a little predictable sometimes and a little too much but it’s just a nice comfy feel good read. There is not much more to the book but it‘s not bad. It‘s written well and interesting right from the beginning.

It is the first book I read from Ali Hazelwood and I was a little sceptical  since it was such a booktok sensation.
The book was quite predictable and cliche, but not to the point were it was annoying or boring. It‘s a cheesy cute romance with nice well rounded interesting characters.
Dr. Carlsen is adorable in his own way and I adore that he is head over heels over Olive without having had to be physically intimate with her. He is patient, kind, funny and the typical grumpy guy who is nice to Olive. And he‘s so attentive. Both know each other so well so fast.
Olive is a smart girl with a sad backstory (cliche) but she‘s adorable. The way she develops throughout the story is nice and it’s great to see her grow and accomplish things.
Olive‘s friends and her seem to have an amazing bond and they‘re so kind and caring for each other.
I also absolutely adored that it was just a shallow romance but it also touched themes like sexism in male dominated fields like STEM and the hard concurrence in STEM.
I also enjoyed the writing style. It was nice and easy to read without being plain and simple. It was sophisticated in a nice way.
All in all a great book that is totally worth a read.

The book is way to overhyped.
It starts of very slow and is hard to get into. The writing style is nice but Emily Henry does not manage to hook the stories and make the storyline capturing from the beginning. Furthermore, the book is very predictable and too cliché. ( Of course the two characters from unstable families struggle with relationships and feelings while the others do not as much…). Plus, it was such a cliche that Harriet would be too scared to admit her feelings and wouldn’t know how to deal with them.
In addition, the flashback chapters are sometimes a little too much and not very interesting. They are important to the story but could’ve brought into the story line better.
The male protagonist, Wyn, is not super likeable. His and Harriet relationship seems to be mostly based on physical affection and sex as that‘s the only thing that‘s really mentioned in every flashback. There is a lack of emotional connection. I was hoping for less horniness and more affection.
Even though the story could‘ve been very emotional and interesting, the storyline seemed stuck because of all the miscommunication and the characters not wanting to communicate with each other correctly and admitting their own feelings. Therefore, it got very frustrating and boring. It‘s not a single incident and it happened over and over again.
The ending was quite predictable and not what I was hoping for in terms of character development for Harriet. And of course all the miscommunication cleared up, the characters finally actually talked to each other and everything was resolved.
Spoiler!!!
Of course she went back to Wyn. I would’ve loved for her to go into the world, quit her job she so hated and explore what she loves and likes and her own without being dependent on someone else. She‘s always been dependent on other people‘s emotions (her mother, her friends, Wyn). It would’ve been a lot more interesting.
Moreover, it was bound to happen that someone was pregnant!
End of spoiler
All in all, the book was truely lacking and even the concept of the book could‘ve been very interesting and emotional, it was quite boring sometimes and didn’t move me at all, even though I‘m usually an emotional person while reading. The story follows the friend group almost growing up and growing apart but during the whole trip to Maine the friends didn’t feel like actual good friends at all (except at the end where everything clears up and they all realize how much they care and how much they love each other).

Disastrous mess. No real story line. The worst book I‘ve read in a long time
