this was a re-read for me as I’m finally deciding to fully commit to this series. enjoyed it just as much the second time around! very fast-paced. first time around, I was definitely team Chaol. but this time, I find myself really enjoying Celaena and Dorian’s dynamic for some reason. I also understood a lot more of what was going on this time around as opposed to being kind of confused during some parts the first time I read it. interested to see where everything goes, and what role Celaena has to play in everything.

the book definitely took me the longest to get through, but it was so worth it! there is so much about nesta that I relate to and find qualities of myself in. and cassian! AHH I LOVE HIM. emerie and gwyn were very welcome additions but I missed mor being a more central character, especially with how close her and cassian are. only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because everything felt like it became a bit redundant in the middle, like we could’ve gone without a 100 or so pages. it just took a while to get to the point of everything. but honestly I love these characters so much, so it didn’t take away from my enjoyment too much.

this definitely does scream christmas filler episode, and I LOVED it. such a nice cozy read, especially after having cried multiple times at the end of acowar. genuinely no plot going on here, just vibes. I like that this book acts as a little transition by using other pov’s throughout the night court fam. and i’m so ready for nesta and cassian’s story!

y’all. I felt like I was fighting in the war towards the end of this book. sarah j. mass really knows how to throw you through the ringer in the last 100 or so pages. several plot twists I didn’t see coming, which is unusual for me! so, so good. acomaf is still my fave, but I was pleasantly entertained by this one after seeing so many reviewers say it was slower paced/kinda boring. I actually liked the pacing and the gradual lead up to the action. also, the high lord’s meeting was a straight up comedy show. could not stop laughing omfg. ahhh I love these characters so much.

sad to say goodbye to feyre and rhysand’s story but super excited to pick up with nesta and cassian in acosf!

RHYSAND. that is all. don’t know if I could accurately convey my feelings toward  this book. absolutely fell in love with these characters. best book of the trilogy, by far.
