Oyindamola’s Face Me I Face You is not your typical poetry collection.
It’s a collection of poems that unfolds like a series of interconnected stories, with each piece feeling like a chapter in a broader narrative.

This collection skillfully merges poetry and short stories, vividly bringing to life characters that are both captivating and humorous.

The collection grabs attention with its raw and unfiltered voice.

It’s a page-turner that’s light yet profound, delivering a smooth reading experience that’s hard to put down.
The poetry is divided into three sections: Palava, Face Me I Face You, and Water & Garri, each exploring themes of family, religion, love, and the everyday dramas of life.

My personal favorite is the Water & Garri section, where Oyindamola’s storytelling shines brightest.
One piece that stood out to me is titled Love Doesn’t Cost a Dime.

What truly sets this collection apart is its narration.
Oyindamola’s voice resonates with authenticity, making every poem relatable.
It’s a collection that I wholeheartedly rate 10/10 minus nothing.
Face Me I Face You is a must-read for anyone looking for a refreshing and different take on poetry.

“Even in the darkest moments, the universe still managed to breathe new life.”

Her story telling prowess is top notch
It’s the way she incorporates social issues in her story for me
This author is an auto-buy author for me

I loved the friendship bit particularly between Ego and Zina. The part where she stands by her regardless of the consequences to her career, sooo rare.

I enjoyed reading this book.
